Charity shops

Our charity shops are our life line, run completely by volunteers. As such we’re always looking for new people to join our shop teams to help keep funds coming in, so we can continue to care for the animals. This includes not only our own, but animals from the streets.

We also try our best to help animals belonging to poor people who can’t afford to give them the care they need. Just a few hours of your time a week can make a big difference. Our shops are located in Carvoeiro, Lagoa and Ferragudo, all in need of volunteers who can spare some time to help support the animals.

Dog walking

If helping out in charity shops isn’t for you, there are other ways you can help. To find out what days our dogs are available for walks, simply join our mailing list from our contact us page. We have many dogs that love to be walked and can assure you we have a dog for everyone!

Children are also welcome when accompanied by adults, since we have calm dogs well suited for kids (and for people who prefer a gentle stroll!)
Other roles

We’re also in need of volunteer refuge assistants, refuge maintenance, and fundraisers. As a refuge assistant you can help keep our animal spaces clean and comfy, including our kennels, cattery and stables area.

Class yourself as a bit of a handyman, or have green fingers? Refuge maintenance could be the role for you. We always need help with general maintenance and / or gardening around the refuge.

And for our fundraiser role, you can get involved with everything from collecting donations and manning stalls to organising events.
